All About Indie

Enjoy these adorable pictures of her. She's wearing a dress that was mine when I was a mere babe!

4 month stats:
-19 weeks old today
-weighs 13.3 lbs
-24 inches long
-holds head up pretty well
-totally teething. I mean she basically attacks everything she possibly can with her mouth and is SUPER congested
-professional lap stander
-loves laying down and playing
-gets way too mad at her toys, so right now she sticks with her hands
-still haven't started food or cereal, I'm trying to wait until six months
-because I have an unpredictable work schedule, we've been forced to give Indigo a few ounces here and there of formula :( :(
-drool monster. MAJOR DROOL MONSTER.
-I try to not let her watch any T.V., but she really loves Curious George
-Sleeps at six to eight hours at night without waking up, and then goes right back to sleep after a feeding
-Still loves being swaddled

What do your babies love? When did you start feeding your kiddo food? Have any suggestions for helping with teething?

Happy Tuesday!

Three Months Old!

 This is her talking face.

My little Indie is a quarter of a year old! It feels like she's been here longer than that, but at the same time I can't believe I have a three month old. You know what I mean?

Awesome things she's doing:
-grabs at dangling things (i think it's involuntary, but still...cool)
-holding her head up (at least trying)
-sleeping 6 or more hours at night and then going right back to sleep after she eats
-loves to stand! in fact, she's crying right now because she's not standing
-tells me stories everyday

Happy three months, Indigo! Three months ago, probably at this exact time, this picture was taken. I still think about it every day.

Autumn Nostalgia

tumblr

Autumn is the best season of the year.
I don't like summer, I like to layer my clothes. Hooray for cardigans.
It's kind of ridiculous how excited I am for Halloween with Indigo (now that I actually have a reason to 'celebrate' it again).
I've been struggling with deciding on costumes for us both. Any ideas??

Seriously though, I love fall and I don't know many people who disagree.
The clothes, the colors, the air, the trees.
I had a friend tell me once that fall is the season where you're supposed to shed the old & prepare for a new you. That's what fall is. The plants and some animals start to fade away for a little while, only to come back just as lovely and vibrantly as ever.

The past year has been insane for me. On Halloween, it will have been one year ago that I found out I was pregnant. I can't help but feel a little bit nostalgic about this year. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about the day Indigo was born. We share a room, and sometimes a bed. Every morning when I wake up and see her I enter some sort of dreamy fog remembering the exact moment she was born. I love reliving that day. I'm so sentimental towards that moment, as every mom is, I'm sure. This time last year, I was a different person. I thought only of the present and rarely of the future. I'm so happy where I am today. I have different friends, no job, and a different idea of "living life," but it's different in a good way. Like when you get promoted, or you graduate, or something like that, ya know? I don't know really...I've just been overwhelmed with how happy I am. Even though I sit at home a lot of days just watching Indigo (yet, somehow I still feel really busy), I'm so happy. There are a lot of people who have babies, and I wonder if they're like me-totally infatuated with their child. On T.V. you always see couples itching to get out and away from their kids, which I do know that day will come soon enough (hello toddler years). Honestly, right now, leaving Indigo for more than an hour or two is absolutely terrible. When I have to go to school, she's all I think about. I'm one of those annoying people who puts pictures of their kids on the background of their computers just so I can stare at it while I'm away (hoping someone will ask me about her). Comical, huh? Nineteen years old and totally and completely in love with my child and unwilling to leave her for more than an hour or two. They're only this little for a few months. Hard to believe she was only 5 lbs 11oz almost three months ago.

Well, this post was a bit sappier than anticipated, it all just kind of came out though-Just so overwhelmed with joy (you'd laugh if you could see me, starring intently into the computer typing all of this as if my life depended on it).

ANYWAYS!
Here are a few links to some autumn lovin'

Stepping Out Saturday {3}

Headscarf: vintage
shirt: target
shorts: wal-mart (!!)
sweater: ?
shoes: target

 Dress: consigned (Old Navy)

---------------------

We always have such a fun time with Auntie Karla & Auntie Hollie. The whole week it was all Indigo talked about. They're off at college, so it's a treat to see them.

I love my friends.
We laugh so much.

I'm so excited because I'm going to see them again next weekend (more on that later)!

We had some man ask who Indigo's Mommy was (look at us, Ethnic ladiez).

"Mom's kissing me again."
-----------------------------------------------

So, Indie had her first fever. I think it was a cold because I wasn't feeling too snazzy at the beginning of the week. It's so sad, helpless little baby. Man, oh man, does she hate that blue suction thing (she's become all too familiar with it).

She's starting to 'talk' all the time these days. She never coo's, but just kinda makes noises. My parents joke about how I should put a picture of my face in her crib, because she stares and smiles at me all the time. My brother will walk over and make tons of noise and she won't even acknowledge him.

I've got to start packing other clothes for her in her diaper bag. Today, at church, she spit up all over her navy dress and it looked terrible, so I took it off. She was wearing a white shirt and a blue cloth diaper. She looked like a boy. I put a bow on her...but still....

We've got a big shopping trip planned for this weekend! I'll report back and let you all know how it went.

Happy Week everybody!
One of my favorite bloggers finally had her baby.
Go look how adorable her daughter, Glow, is here.

Blanket Fort and Rainbow Legwarmers

Rainbow leg warmers for rainy days!

I love rainy days.
They make me want to curl up, drink something warm, and just be happy.
We've had a few needed rainy days here, and I couldn't be happier.
(also, this cooler weather is beyond amazing).

Indigo and I have been doing lots of curling up and being happy, hence the lack of posts lately.
I'm really trying to enjoy every minute with her that I can. She's already 10 weeks old and I just want to savor her relying completely on me. Before I know it, she'll be doing everything on her own.

Today, I needed to get away from the relaxing and get things done.
I did lots and lots of laundry.
and
I built a fort for Indigo and I.
I've always loved building pillow and blanket forts.
It seems like another world once you're inside.
Cozy.
While I know Indigo didn't enjoy our fort nearly as much as I did, I hope when she looks back and sees pictures of our special moments she'll see how much I loved her (and of course I will still love her later on).

How to build the perfect fort:
make sure to have plenty of room and building accessories (like my vintage sheets?)

It's not a fort unless you have a fancy entrance!

You can't do anything unless you can see! Lighting is a must.

Books are always a good rainy day fort accessory!
A little nook is 100% necessary for the fancy fort builder!
-----

We had fun in our fort.
took some naps

stared at the pretty ceiling
stared at mommy

Read some books
(ignore my feet, forts are not always as spacious as you'd like)

and when Indigo decided she wanted to chill in her swing...

...Mommy watched the free episode of The New Girl on her computer!

Good days are good!
I can't wait to build many more forts with sweet little Indie.

One day she'll help me!
Well, hopefully I'll find some time (and interesting subjects) to post!
I'm really trying to spend as much time as possible with Indie (oh internet, how you distract me to no end).

Happy fall weather days!
